Over the past year, since August 2018, I discovered that I suffer from severe anxiety and depression.  This mental health issue that I was experiencing was new to me in its intensity.

This blog is an illustration of my journey that includes how I want to change my life, and how I want to better myself.  Here are three goals that I would like to accomplish by the end of 2019.

1. Grip a better hold on my mental health.
2. Find a new job/career.
3. Lose body fat to achieve a better weight, and better outward appearance for enhanced self-esteem.

As mentioned prior, I suffer from severe anxiety and depression.  It all came to me in August of 2018, once I left my Grandmothers house.  On August 4th 2018, my life changed forever, and so did my outlook on this life.

Anxiety is a paralyzing mental health issue that many people suffer from.  Since I have been open with my mental health disorder, that being what I have concluded is GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder), I have discovered at least 30 other people that I know that also suffer from anxiety that at times can become a hindrance to their life.

It is today, July 1st, that I take a leap forward and try to focus on improving my mental health. I have already deleted my Facebook page, along with all other social media accounts as they can contribute to anxiety disorders.  I have been making sleep a priority, and I am taking the next step by trying to lower my dosage of my medication.  I have also been seeking therapy, and I have been utilizing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). 

The second thing I would like to focus on before the end of 2019 is a new job.  I have currently been working at my current job for 12 years.  Although this job has been rewarding, it unfortunately does not give me the access to the other desires  I have in my life.  I have already applied at 3 other jobs since June, and it is my goal that by the end of 2019 I will have a new job!

Finally I would like to focus on my weight and body fat.  I am a large man, and it is something that I need to address.  I would like to  lose 85 pounds within a year.  That is a lot of weight, and this is a lot of dedication.  How am I going to accomplish this?  I am going to focus more on myself and make working out a priority. Exercise is not only good for the bodies physical health, but also mental health (which is more important).

Although I will not be perfect in my struggles, I will continue to move forward to accomplish a healthier life!
